Faith Formation is a lifelong process. At our Baptism we formally became a member of the Church. Throughout our lives we continue to grow in faith and holiness through our participation in the life and practices of the church.

FAITH FORMATION

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish has programs for children, families, youth and adults. Below is a summary of the many opportunities offered. For more detailed information on any of the programs contact the Coordinator of Faith Formation, Kim Woods at kwoods@ihmchurchmd.org or 410-661-3820.

FAITH FORMATION FOR ADULTS
·A Bible study is held on Wednesday afternoons from 1-2:30 pm in Cartwright Hall. (Due to Covid-19 this has been suspended and will resume September 2021)
FAITH FORMATION FOR PRE-K-8TH GRADES
We collaborate with parents to support families in their faith journey. Our Faith Formation process is a home-based whole family/community catechesis. We use the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies for families with children in grades Pre-K-8. Age appropriate materials are distributed to the families for the children as well as materials for the adults. Families enrolled in Faith Formation, Catholic school families and all parishioners are invited to monthly gatherings that explore a particular topic or aspect of the Catholic Faith. The topics are seasonally appropriate. For example, in January we may explore Catholic Social Justice Teaching with discussions, activities, and projects that help us to put our faith in action.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Vacation Bible School is an opportunity for our young parishioners to continue to learn about God in a fun-filled environment using music, games, and crafts.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW)
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is held during the 10:00 am Mass from September through May. Children are dismissed to Cartwright Hall beneath the church to hear the readings of the day from the Children’s lectionary and return to the church for the rest of the Mass following the homily.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are the heart of all of our ministries. Without volunteers we cannot serve the parishioners. Please consider being a volunteer in our Faith Formation/Youth Ministry programs and sharing your faith with our young parishioners. Click Here for volunteer descriptions
CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION – VIRTUS
All adult volunteers must complete the Child and Youth Protection Training - VIRTUS. This is available online and must be completed at your convenience before you start volunteering. Once you’ve indicated your interest in volunteering, we will give you the paperwork that needs to be completed and a link to the online process. If you have any questions about the volunteer positions, the Child and Youth Protection program, or anything else about VIRTUS please contact Donna Bradley.
