LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
The Liturgy in its turn moves the faithful, filled with “the paschal sacraments,” to be “one in holiness” it prays that “they may hold fast in their lives to what they have grasped by their faith;” the renewal in the Eucharist of the covenant between the Lord and his people draws the faithful into the compelling love of Christ and sets them on fire. From the liturgy, therefore, particularly the Eucharist, grace is poured forth upon us; the Liturgy is the source for achieving in the most effective way possible human sanctification and God’s glorification, then end to which all the Church’s other activities are directed. (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy)
Here at Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Liturgy Committee coordinates the various Liturgical Ministries, and works with the Pastor and Pastoral Staff to plan weekly and seasonal Liturgies in the parish. The committee is comprised mainly of those who lead their respective ministries and welcomes those who have a knowledge and understanding of the Liturgical norms to join them. The committee meets bi-monthly throughout the year. Hospitality: Ushers and Greeters:
Greeters welcome fellow parishioners and other members of the Mystical Body of Christ to the communal liturgical Celebration. The ultimate goal is to have every parish member act as a greeter. The ushers society consists of a group of men and women who are members of the Parish. They volunteer their time to try to meet the needs of the people at a weekend and special Masses. They take up the collection, seat the congregation and offer assistance wherever needed.

Lectors:
The mission of the Lector Ministry is to proclaim the Scripture readings and lead the General Intercessions (in the absence of the Deacon). The new lector is provided training, to include written documentation and a workbook to use for practicing. Schedules are prepared in four month intervals and allows for 3-4 times per lector to read. If interested in this Ministry please contact Helene Shugart, Lector Coordinator at 410-494-4458 or ahshugart@comcast.net
Liturgical Arts & Environment and Sanctuary Society
Liturgical Arts is responsible for decorating the interior of the church throughout the year and also incorporating additional floral displays in the fall and at Easter and Christmas, This includes arranging, watering and maintaining the foliage throughout the year. We also create banners representing the themes during the year. The committee coordinates with the Sanctuary Society during various seasons to change the Liturgical colors, altar cloths etc. according to the ordor.

Sanctuary Society
The Sanctuary Society cares for the church and Liturgical Linens. There is a rotating schedule of volunteers who launder the Liturgical Linens such as the Corporals and Purificators. This group is coordinated by Gary Smith. Other volunteers take care of the cleaning of the church, including light housekeeping, dusting, cleaning of the holy water fonts etc. Floor care, restrooms and other heavy maintenance items are taken care of by the maintenance staff. Please contact 410-668-0097 or tbozek@immaculateheartofmary.com if you are available to assist.
